Trek has finally launched the Session 88 in two sweet variations: the freeride oriented Session 88 FR and the downhill race-ready Session 88 DH. Some clever suspension design should make this new long-travel rig a real contender.

You know it’s a good week when you start out with a glut of free bike porn videos. Sunday we showed you that New World Disorder 7 had found its way onto Google Video, and now for the rest of the week we have Free Delivery. If you remember from a few weeks ago, we brought [...]

Gamut has released a new version of the P30 chainguide, and at a claimed weight of 222 grams, the P30 is pretty impressive right out of the gate. In order to achieve this welterweight status, Gamut trimmed a lot of material from the polycarbonate bash ring, and the result is a 25% lighter piece which Gamut [...]

Fresh off of yesterday’s news that Ellsworth will be unveiling a new Moment at this year’s Sea Otter, comes the announcement that Elka Suspension is jumping into the mountain bike suspension game. If you haven’t heard of Quebec-based Elka before, you’re probably not alone. Though they’ve been making suspension for motorcycles (both on and off [...]

Spyder protects you with putty

Spyder is a company which most people would associate with shredding powder rather than shredding singletrack, but Spyder is hoping to transfer their expertise from one gravity sport to another. Their latest attempt at winning over the mountain bike crowd comes in the form of “d3o”, which is billed as “intelligent padding.” The run-down on [...]

Gatorbrake’s eight piston disc brake

Saturday, March 22, 2008

Are your measly Magura Gustav or Hope M4 brakes, with their four hopelessly inadequate pistons just not living up to your expectations? Gatorbrake hopes so, and thinks that their biggest model, with double the pistons (and therefore double the awesome) of other downhill brakes will satisfy your need for motorcycle-level stopping power. The apparently unnamed eight-pot brake has a CNC [...]

e.13 answers a question nobody asked

e.13 has posted a press release today hyping their introduction of odd-sized guide rings. These rings (not surprisingly) are available in odd sizes, and you can take your pick of 33, 35, 37, and 39 teeth (compared to the more common ‘even-sized’ rings at 34, 36, 38, and 40 teeth). No doubt that these rings will uphold the [...]

Some great footage of Cam McCaul sessioning the Hood River gap while filming for NWD 9.

A nice flashback to the 2006 riding scene, NWD7 has held up to the test of time surprisingly well. The riding is great, and the filming shows why the NWD series is still going strong. If you feel guilty about enjoying such a fine piece of bike video for free, then this would be the perfect occasion to grab yourself a Box of Disorder for more classic freeride goodness.

Have you been feeling that your bike is just too comfortable and efficient lately? Do you hate the mobility, simplicity, and ease of modern bikes? Well, Gizmodo has dug up the solution. There’s not much to be said other than watch the video, and then go and hug one of your, ahem, ‘real’ bikes.

This video features some great segments of dirt jumping, urban assault, and of course the ubiquitous BC singletrack with dog in tow. If nothing else, it’s worth watching just to see Carl Buchanan refuse to stop his session after breaking his handlebars in half. Carl’s street and park segment is definitely the standout of the video, and there’s little doubt that we’ll be seeing more from him in the future.

The Transition crew set out to highlight their riders who manage to hold down a full-time job, while at the same time riding at a level high enough to earn a spot on a factory team. The fact that these riders have the same amount of riding time as the rest of us, but are able to throw down with the best riders out there, is a testament to their skill and dedication.

Bang Bang tags along with two big-name freeriders, Aaron Chase and Cam McCaul, as they compete in the Qashqai Urban Challenge. The full video isn’t without its ups and downs, as it includes Chase’s season-ending injury from crashing hard off of a ladder bridge and compressing his vertebrae.
